House Rules
Conditions of Admission and Conduct — Condiciones de Admisión y Conducta
Last updated: 14 June 2026
1 Introduction and scope
These House Rules set out the conduct we expect at QED events and the conditions under which you may attend. They form part of, and are incorporated by reference into, our Terms of Service, and should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
They apply to all QED brands — Quiz Eat Drink, Tardeo de Trivia and Eureka — at every partner venue where QED organises events. They are published on our websites and made available at event access points before and during each event. By booking and attending, you accept them.
Where an event is held at a venue, the venue's own conditions of admission and rules also apply, independently of and in addition to these Rules.
2 Right of admission (derecho de admisión)
QED exercises a right of admission to its events in accordance with the applicable Spanish legislation on public spectacles and recreational activities, including but not limited to:
- Comunidad Valenciana — Ley 14/2010, de 3 de diciembre, de Espectáculos Públicos, Actividades Recreativas y Establecimientos Públicos, as modified by Ley 6/2018;
- Comunidad de Madrid — Ley 17/1997, de 4 de julio, de Espectáculos Públicos y Actividades Recreativas, and Decreto 163/2008;
- Región de Murcia — applicable autonomous legislation on public spectacles;
- the equivalent legislation of any other autonomous community in which we operate; and
- at national level, Ley Orgánica 4/2015, de 30 de marzo, de Protección de la Seguridad Ciudadana.
These conditions of admission are objective, established and published in advance, and applied equally to everyone.
Non-discrimination. Admission will never be refused or restricted on grounds of birth, race, sex, religion, opinion, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, nationality, or any other personal or social condition or circumstance (Article 14 of the Spanish Constitution). Any refusal of entry is based solely on the objective grounds set out in these Rules — protecting safety, public order, the rights of others, and the proper running of the event.
Grounds for refusing entry or requiring a person to leave. Consistent with the legislation above, entry may be refused, or a person may be required to leave, where:
- the venue is at capacity, or the event has ended or has not yet opened;
- the person shows signs of intoxication or of being under the influence of drugs;
- the person carries weapons or objects that may be used as such, or prohibited substances;
- the person behaves violently or aggressively, or in a way that causes disturbance or risk to others, or that prevents the normal running of the event;
- the person refuses to comply with these Rules or with reasonable instructions from QED hosts or venue staff; or
- the person is subject to an active QED ban (see section 6).
3 Respectful conduct
QED events are meant to be welcoming and fun for everyone. Treat all those present with respect — QED hosts and staff, venue staff, your own team, and other teams.
The following will not be tolerated:
- harassment, intimidation, threats, or abuse, whether verbal or physical;
- discriminatory, hateful, or demeaning language or conduct;
- violence, or the threat of violence;
- sexual harassment or unwanted physical contact;
- deliberate damage to the venue or its property; or
- behaviour that disrupts the event for hosts, staff, or other guests.
Please follow reasonable instructions from QED hosts and venue staff. During an event, the host's decisions on quiz matters are final, subject to the appeals process in section 7.
4 Fair play and cheating
QED events are quizzes of knowledge and skill, and their integrity depends on fair play. Cheating means any attempt to gain an unfair advantage, including:
- using a phone, smartwatch, tablet, earpiece, or any other device to look up, receive, or share answers during questions or rounds (unless the host expressly permits device use for a specific round);
- searching the internet, using AI or voice assistants, or contacting anyone outside your team for answers;
- communicating with, or copying from, other teams; sharing answers between teams; or deliberately overhearing and using another team's answers;
- bringing or using pre-prepared notes, reference materials, or answer keys, unless expressly permitted;
- exceeding the maximum team size, or adding players during an event to circumvent team limits;
- altering or falsifying answer sheets or scores, submitting answers under another team's name, or tampering with quiz materials;
- colluding with, or attempting to influence, bribe, or pressure, a host or member of staff; or
- submitting an answer that you know you obtained by any of the above.
Phones. Keep phones away during questions and rounds. If you genuinely need your phone, step away from play. A phone visible and in use during a question may be treated as cheating.
Consequences. Depending on severity, cheating may result in the affected answer or round being voided, the team's score being adjusted or disqualified, forfeiture of any prize or ranking position, and a sanction under section 5 (up to expulsion and a ban). Any prize obtained by cheating must be returned.
5 Sanctions
Sanctions are proportionate to the conduct concerned and to any previous sanctions. There are three tiers:
Tier A — Warning. For minor or first-time breaches (for example, a phone briefly out during a question, or mild disruption). The host may issue a verbal or written warning and may void the affected answer or deduct points. There is no effect on future bookings.
Tier B — Expulsion from the event. For serious breaches, repeated Tier A conduct, deliberate cheating, or refusal to comply (for example, persistent device use to obtain answers, disruptive behaviour, or abuse of staff). You will be required to leave the event, your team will be disqualified from that event, and a temporary ban of up to one season (see section 6) may be applied across all QED brands. Under our Terms of Service, the booking price for the event from which you are expelled, and any future bookings affected by an active ban, will be refunded to your original payment method within 14 days. Food, drinks, and other purchases made directly from the venue are not refundable by QED.
Tier C — Ban. For the most serious conduct (violence or threats, harassment, discrimination, fraud, or repeated Tier B conduct). A ban will be applied across all QED brands and venues — for up to one season, or, in the most serious cases, permanently. Expulsion from the current event and the refund described under Tier B also apply.
A "season" means a QED league season as published in the relevant city's event calendar (typically [insert duration, e.g. three months]).
Where conduct may involve a criminal offence (for example, violence, threats, or weapons), QED and the venue may involve the competent authorities in accordance with Ley Orgánica 4/2015.
6 Banlist and cross-brand application
A sanction applies across all QED brands (Quiz Eat Drink, Tardeo de Trivia, Eureka) and at every venue where QED organises events. A ban under one brand prevents booking and attendance at any QED event under any brand for the duration of the ban.
To apply and enforce sanctions, QED keeps a record (the "banlist") of individuals subject to an active sanction. This data is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy (see the section on sanctions/banlist data): we keep only what is necessary to enforce the sanction, and for no longer than necessary. Closing your account does not automatically remove this record while a sanction is active.
7 Appeals
If you receive a Tier B or Tier C sanction, you may appeal within [14] days by emailing info@quizeatdrink.com (or privacy@quizeatdrink.com for data-related concerns), explaining why you consider the sanction wrong or disproportionate.
We will review your appeal fairly, give you the opportunity to put your side, and tell you the outcome — upheld, reduced, or overturned — within a reasonable time. The appeal decision is QED's final internal decision. It does not affect your statutory rights, including any non-waivable consumer rights or your right to complain to a competent authority.
8 Photography, alcohol, age, and venue rules
- Age. Events are 18+. You must be at least 18 to book and to attend.
- Alcohol. Many events are held in venues that serve alcohol. Please drink responsibly; the venue's licensing rules apply, and intoxication is a ground for refusal or expulsion (section 2).
- Photography. QED may take photographs and recordings at events that include attendees and may use them for promotional purposes, as described in our Privacy Policy. If you would prefer not to appear, tell the host or contact us and we will take reasonable steps.
- Venue rules. The venue's own rules and conditions of admission apply in addition to these Rules.
9 Display and contact
These House Rules are published on our websites and are displayed or otherwise made available at event access points, in accordance with the Spanish public-spectacles legislation referred to in section 2.
